Dear Sir, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from a friend that you had publishing my piece on buying my 30 Pilot, "Sitting Duck," in the Spring edition of MAINEVENT. Fortunately it was different enough in content from the version which ran in MARTHA'S VINEYARD Magazine, and the one in the current issue of POWER CRUISING, that there were no repercussions. However, I would like to have known you were going to publish the piece, and would like to have received your magazine, perhaps even in advance of the publication. In the same week of February, when Mike sold the Pilot 30 to Mr. Vogel from Guatemala, he co-brokered the deal on my Mainship, in Fort Myers. That May, I had my 30 trucked to Cape Cod, and next autumn, had the pleasure of bringing her back from Marta's Vineyard, down to her home dock in Stuart, Florida, on her own bottom. I was looking for a 41' Tiara and met with Capt Barry Sikes. He showed us two of them he listed in the marina and was very knowledgeable and honest. We negotiated a deal on one of them and it was a very easy and straight forward process. Once we had a deal set he gave us a list of surveyors in the area along with a few yacht loan brokers to use. All during the process he kept us up to date and always answered his phone (something unusual for a boat broker). When I asked about items on the boat he not only would get the information for me but would email me a picture of it. During the seatrial Capt Barry ran the boat and explained the systems one by one. Even though it was not my first boat this size, he was still very informative and knowledgeable. He even stocked the fridge with waters, snacks and sandwiches for everyone including the surveyor. Once we closed he had the boat we arrived to transit it to the east coast and they had nice Wine and Glasses on the dinette table the boat washed and everything ready to go. Thought I would let you know we took the boat through Lake Okeechobee and it ran perfectly (as I expected). We left Saturday morning and arrived in Ft Pierce Sunday evening.
